Ethiopia has around 5 million orphans. There are many reasons for this stark figure, and this website does a great job of explaining the situation there.

Looking at the map, you will notice Addis Ababa. That is where we will be flying to meet our new kid! It is the capital city of Ethiopia.
As a side note, we are not trying to save the starving orphans. We are expanding our family the way we feel God has called us to. In fact, most of what we discovered about Ethiopia's poverty and famine, we found out after we decided to adopt from there.
