Naming

Many of you have asked about our son's name.

While we can't post it on the internet (Ethiopia's rules), we feel we need something to call him until we get home. We also don't want anything to stick too much. We don't feel like "Baby O" or "Baby D" or "Baby Olson" are the best fit for now. You might remember that we nicknamed our first son "Beans" because he was from a town where coffee was said to have been invented. We were honoring his roots and nicknaming him.

So Erik and I discussed it the past couple nights. We don't want it to be anything we might actually name him, so some of our favorites are out. We also want it to be more of a nickname. I liked the idea of calling him "Ollie" for his new Scandanavian roots. Besides, he will be an Olson forever. Erik liked a version of his given name, but I feel like it is too close to what could be reality later. After much deliberation we are calling him:

Moosh!

In Amharic (Ethiopian), "mamush" (ma-moosh) means little boy. We are shortening it to Mush and changing to 2 O's so that it doesn't look like the word for porridge or a command heard in the Iditarod. It is kind of like calling him "Chico" or "NiƱo" for those of you who speak Spanish.

So welcome, Moosh! We love you already!!!
